Terry Group Case Study
Terry Melody 1 - Northampton Museum
The Requirement
Northampton Borough Council needed an urgent turnkey solution to replace an obsolete lift in the busy Northampton Central Museum. The site was in constant use with a short 4 day window of opportunity for the change being identified between exhibitions.
The Solution
Terry Group Limited was awarded the contract to ensure the replacement lift would be in place on time. It was also an important aesthetic consideration that the lift be "transparent" as far as possible.
Northampton Borough Council chose the Terry Melody 1 as the best option to provide improved access for disabled people to this area of the Museum. Terry Group developed a solution which included in filled sides to both lift and balustrade.
In the available four days Terry Group Limited co-ordinated the removal of the old lift, remodelled the staircase and balustrade, prepared the site to receive the Melody 1 (including a new electrical supply, floor cover plates to avoid extensive recarpeting), installation and commissioning of the Melody 1.
Client Feedback
The Client has been very pleased both with the project management, maintaining operations within the Museum, together with the appearance and user-friendly nature of the lift.
The Terry Melody 1 has been designed to meet the need of disabled people in short rise conditions of up to 1 metre, in an unobtrusive manner. It is the ideal solution to overcome split level access in retail, leisure and office situations.
