Terry Lifts has been a trusted name in the lift industry for over 70 years. From our base in Cheshire, we design and manufacture a wide range of home lifts, platform lifts to the highest standards of safety and quality. Every Terry Lift is proudly made in Great Britain, giving you confidence and peace of mind.
Where It All Began
Our story started in 1947, when Eric Terry opened a small workshop in Bucklow Hill, Knutsford. By the late 1960s, we had developed our very first through-floor home lift, a pioneering product that transformed independence for people with mobility needs.
In 1968, we introduced the counterbalanced stairlift, allowing safe access in homes for people no longer able to use the stairs. Soon after came the Terry Personal Lift – a hand-operated through-floor lift that allowed users to move between levels with ease. Later, we added an electric drive option for those with limited mobility, ensuring the lift remained practical for all.

Growing and Innovating
The following decades brought rapid progress. We partnered with world-class companies such as Rolls-Royce, earned a Design Council Award, and in 1988 launched the Harmony Home Lift – still one of our most popular products today.
From step lifts to larger platform lifts, every innovation had a single purpose: to give people greater freedom in their homes and communities.

Moving Forward
In recent years, we’ve continued to evolve. The Lifestyle Home Lift offers a stylish, space-saving option for modern homes, while the Harmony FE and ultra-compact Affinity Home Lift provide even more choice for different lifestyles and spaces.
From humble beginnings in 1947 to today’s world-class range of lifts, our story is one of care, innovation and British engineering. Much has changed in the past 70 years – but our commitment to helping people live life to the fullest never will.
