The Lifestyle Lift enabled Mr and Mrs N. to stay in their unique home despite Mrs N.’s knee problems.
The couple, who are retired scientists in their 80s, have lived in their beautiful house in Wales for over 14 years. With friendly neighbours and an enchanting village nearby, they love their home and neighbourhood.
The N’s house benefits from exquisite views over a countryside landscape. The picture postcard perfect view comes with only one downside; with the house being built on a hillside in two storeys, there are stairs both inside and outside. Due to the unique placement of the house, entrance is through the first floor whereas the ground floor provides access to a beautiful garden at the back of the building.
Mrs N. was struggling with the stairs due to osteoarthritis of the knee, and the couple wanted an easier way to get up and down the stairs. Installing a stair lift was not an option due to the narrow staircase, which would not comply with modern building regulations if a stair lift was installed.
“We were reluctantly beginning to dread the likelihood and hassle of moving from a house to a bungalow”, Mrs N. explains. “A short video, a carefully arranged demonstration of the domestic lift and the subsequent confirmation from Terry Lifts that the home adaptation could be done changed everything for us”, she says.
Mr & Mrs N. conducted careful research of the various residential lift options on the market. Being a retired university lecturer with degrees in physics and electrical engineering, Mr N. had several in-depth questions to ask of Terry Lifts’ staff who demonstrated the lift at the factory.

The home lift installation was easy and straight-forward, and the couple were delighted by the professionalism of Terry Lifts’ installation team. “The installers worked incredibly hard and with amazing care until the job was finished. They left us in awe of the care which they took to keep the area clean and they vacuumed as they went along”, Mr and Mrs N. said.
