Meet the Team: Bob Shippen

Posted: 17th June 2025

Bob knows a thing or two about lifts… Having first joined Terry Lifts back in 2004 as an Installation Assistant, he’s worked his way up the ranks to become our North West Regional Sales Manager, using years of hands-on experience to help customers find the right lift for their needs. Learn more about him below…

What is your job title and how long have you been at Terry Lifts?

Regional Sales Manager. I have been in my current position at Terry Lifts for just over two years.

I did originally start at Terry Lifts in August 2004 straight from college as an Installation Assistant. I worked my way up through various positions, such as Senior Lift Installation Engineer and then eventually became the Installation Team & Training Supervisor.

I briefly changed employers, whilst still working on the Terry Lifts product range, before soon returning to become the North West Regional Sales Manager.

Terry Lifts is all about being “the one to trust” How does that value shine through in your role?

Myself and the rest of our small Sales Team have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field. We use our knowledge and experience to always make sure we are only working in the client’s best interest. Even if this means advising against a sale!

Instead of pushing our products or services, we guide clients with honesty and integrity so that they can make their own informed decisions. It is important to provide clear, accurate and honest information.

I believe trust is built through actions.

Tell us something unique about the Terry Lifts team culture?

At Terry Lifts we care. We are empathetic towards each situation we encounter, and we understand that everyone’s situation is different.

Even though we don’t see each other too often as we spend a lot of time on the road, we all know that we have each other’s support.

On the rare occasion that one of us comes across a situation we haven’t seen before, you can almost guarantee one of the other members of the team has!

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your role at Terry Lifts?

Helping people to keep their independence. Knowing that each lift I supply is the right fit for the client and will do its job safely and effectively for years to come.

We don’t always get the chance to return to a site after a lift has been installed, but when we do it is always fantastic to see how the installation of a Terry Lift has changed a user’s life.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing – any hobbies or interests?

Outside of work I really enjoy spending time with my family. Our two year old keeps my wife and I very busy in the best way!

When I get a bit of quiet time I like to spend the occasional weekend carp fishing. I don’t often catch much, but it’s that taking part that counts!
