Terry Lifts Joins BHTA

Posted: 30th September 2023

We are pleased to announce that it is now a member of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA). Representing over 400 companies in the healthcare and assistive technology industry, the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) supports its members to help ensure people have access to the right product and service, at the right time, at the right value. All BHTA members are committed to the association’s Code of Practice. Requiring companies to offer a level of service above and beyond the legal requirements. This brings together healthcare and assistive technologies manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and service providers to support health and care systems and protect consumers’ interests.

Speaking about the new membership, national sales manager Steve Hill said:

“We are excited to explore the benefits and opportunities presented by our affiliation with BHTA. And sharing our expertise and experience with the organisation and our peer group.  We are also appreciative of how reassuring it is to customers.  Our BHTA status will give us confidence.  Customers can trust that we are verified and abide by the BHTA Code of Practice.  This is invaluable because as we know the Code of Practice is approved by the Trading Standards Institute.”

One of the main reasons Terry Lifts decided to join BHTA is to address the discrepancies within the lift industry. As Steve explains:

“We believe our greatest challenge is unfair trading.  There are differences in the industry when it comes to standards and certification, and this means we are not operating on a level playing field.  With its respected Code of Practice, we instantly recognised that BHTA can support us in driving positive change.  We wish to look at how we can better regulate compliance and the section meetings will help us achieve this, providing a safe space for debate and lobbying which can be used to influence decision-making.”

David Stockdale, Chief Executive Officer of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) comments on Terry Lifts joining the association:

“We are delighted to welcome Terry Lifts to the BHTA. It was a privilege to spend time with Dave and Steve and understand their passion for the industry and desire to increase standards across the sector. I look forward to seeing Terry Lifts contribute to our Stairlifts and Access Section Meetings and have input across the BHTA.

“All BHTA members are committed to our renowned Code of Practice, requiring companies to offer a level of service above and beyond the legal requirements. This will give consumers the peace of mind when buying from Terry Lifts, as buying from a BHTA member means they are treated fairly and ethically when buying important healthcare and assistive technology products and services.”
